Justin’s Movie Review of “The Avengers” from Alex’s Mixed Bag on the 28th April 2012

This week I braved the thousands of comic book geeks and watched the  avengers on its opening day.

Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye, they are all back and together in the same film as the Avengers. This much awaited Marvel Comics film with an all star cast in including Robert Downey Junior, Aussie Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffolo and Scarlett Johannson or Yohannsen depending on what school you went to.

Shield Agent Nick Fury (played by Samuel L Jackson) brings together a group of superheroes to combat Thor’s Brother Loki and his army, who have come down to earth to harness the power of an intergalactic power source called the tesseract and to cause general havoc.

Now the film is action from start to finish, and has plenty of conflict even with the group of avengers themselves.

Now in many ways this is your stock standard superhero action film, reluctant and flawed heroes who struggle to work together at the start, all to work it out at the end,  The movie flows very well but there is a little bit of cheesyness in certain parts, but that’s to be expected in this sort of comic book type film.

One thing to consider is that Scarlett Johannson look great in tight licra and the good looking brunette form How I met your mother is also in this wearing you guessed it “A very tight outfit”

The Special effects are top notch and there is a lot, so they would have given the green screen a fair work out. The acting was pretty good as you would expect with this sort of cast, Robert Downey Junior is the standout as Iron Man and carries the humour of the film. Mark Ruffolo was also a very good choice to play Bruce Banner the incredible Hulk.

Even though I wouldn’t call this an all time classic, I just really enjoyed this film, it was good old fashioned action and fun.  So if you’re not a big comic book person but enjoy action films and liked captain America, Thor and Iron Man, you should go and check this one out.

I give it 4 out of five stars. Watch Trailer Here
