Songs about drugs on Radio Ga Ga 12/02/11

Join host Shaun Stokie on Saturday the 12th of February 2011 from 10 am for two hours of songs about drugs and songs with drug references on Radio Ga Ga.  Gold Dust Woman, Cocaine & Dr Feelgood are a few obvious cuts but did you know that Comfortably Numb is about drugs?  Or is it?  And is Golden Brown by The Stranglers a catchy pop song or is it about drugs?  All will be revealed on Saturday the 12th of February.  Don’t miss it!

Great idea for a theme. how about including There She Goes by the La’s? clearly about heroine despite what the songwriter claims – he obviously doesn’t want to jeopardise that income from all the films, TV shows and ads it’s been in.

  • Shaun Stokie says:

Hey guys, thanks for the feedback. If I only I could have had this list before I planned the set! It would have saved me a few hours of research. Looks like we could do a whole day of drugs songs. Hope you can listen next Saturday and I’m sure you will hear some of these selections and maybe a few you haven’t thought of! Many thanks to Charlie Sheen for inspiring the theme.

  • Mark says:

What about Amphetamine Annie by Canned Heat, Tonights The Night by Neil Young, Purple Haze by Hendrix, The Joker (Steve Miller Band), Come Down (Bush), Don’t Bogart That Joint My Friend (I think by Little Feat or Loudon Wainwright III) and Roll Another Number For The Road by The Beat Farmers!! Great theme Shaun, might have to do an all day special, not that 88.3 condones such behavior.

  • presenter says:

how about Mr Brownstone (GNR) Dancing on Glass (Motley Crue) Master of Puppets (Metallica) or H (Tool).
