On this Purple Haze Archive podcast we present a tribute to legendary DJ Tom Clay with our very special guest Becky Clague (Clay) the daughter of the late Tom Clay. Tom Clay was a famous DJ in the US & Canada especially in the 1950s & 1960s, & also a very controversial one too. In 1971 he combined two songs What the World Needs Now & Abraham Martin & John & had a worldwide smash hit with a song collage that managed to sum up the turbulence of late 60s America to a tee.Youtube Link to Tom Clay’s “What the World Needs Now Is Love/Abraham Martin and John”

Fabulous DJ…and very kind to this 16 year old kid from Burbank who wanted to be a DJ in 1065. Tom did more with his imagination than any other DJ I’ve ever heard or worked with.
OK, 1965. But sometimes it FEELS like 1065…
