Very sadly Peter Tork of The Monkees died on February 21, 2019. On this tribute episode of Purple Haze we discuss the life & music of Peter Tork with guests: Anne O’Reilly who founded the Monkeemaniacs fanclub, Rock Brain of the Universe, Glenn A Baker AM who wrote the first biography of The Monkees & extra special guest the late Paul Mazursky who is one of many credited with the inception of The Monkees TV show.Quote from “Monkees Head & the 60s” Biography
“How has a group conceived as a short-lived commodity outlived many more ‘real’ bands by nearly fifty years? Why are The Monkees still important, and what does this tell us about their music, their TV show, and our understanding of popular culture today?”

What a great loss to the music industry in the death of beautiful soul…
Peter Tork…
An absolute musician in every meaning of the word..
He will be sadly missed…
The Monkees were an absolute joy to watch and listen too…
When the beautiful Davey Jones died my heart sank…
and now Peter…both gone too soon they had more wonderful music and joy left to bring…
Love to Mickey Dolenz and Mike Nesmith who I’m sure will be missing them…but keep the music coming guys…

Thank you Nick and Anne for a wonderful show and lovely tribute to Peter, was just lovely hearing the stories and music.
Peter was an amazing talent that will be missed, but will live on through his music, and finishing with ‘Angels We Have Heard On High’ was the perfect

Hi, I was lucky enough to see and hear Davy Jones perform years ago at Twin Towns Tweed Heads New South Wales.
Davy was extremely talented.
After the show, he came out and spoke to us all and autographed for fans.
Howdy folks,
I really enjoyed the podcast. I wasn’t disappointed when you got around mentioning James Frawley. I worked with him in Australia in 1999. He was here to direct a movie about the 3 Stooges that was produced by Mel Gibson. I was in his ear nearly every day to tell me anything about the Monkees. By the way, he also directed The Muppet Movie.
