Along with their UK ‘spritual brothers’, the Yardbirds, Pretty Things & the Rolling Stones, the Downliners Sect reinvigorated the sound of the new wave of British R&B in the early 1960s & it was the Downliners that really only stayed truly faithful to their R&B spirit, but they played, & still are playing the ‘dirtiest’ British R&B there ever was.
