Best Medicine Stephen Sartarelli Podcast

For lovers of the Inspector Montalbano novels catch my interview with Stephen Sartarelli, the English language translator of the books.  Stephen took time out from his busy schedule when he visited Australia, to talk with me about the challenges and rewards of translating. He was recovering from the real ‘flu, but was generous, warm, forthcoming, intelligent. The interview was aired on 10 August this year. Gaytana

I really enjoyed listening to the Stephen Sartarelli Podcast. My wife of 30 years is Sicilian-American and we’re huge Montalbano fans. It was a great interview and it was fun to hear how much fun you were having doing it.

I just finished reading Il campo del vasaio again in Italian (and lots of Sicilian) after watching the film version on I really wish that Camilleri would make an audible version so that we would have a nice record of his dialect pronunciation for posterity. Maybe you could drop Mr. Sartarelli a note and ask him to encourage Camilleri to record a version.

Thanks again for a great program.

P.S. We’re headed to Sicily in May and we’re going to get visit the Montalbano house at Punta Secca!
