Heathland in bloom
A record crowd turned out for the October open day at the Bay Road Heathland Sanctuary with rare flowers still in bloom. The area is one of few original bushland areas to survive since colonial settlement. Despite being surrounded by apartments and sports fields, it’s an important area for biodiversity and a significant seed bank. The Convenor of the Friends group for the Sanctuary is Sue Forster and she’s been speaking with Clare Arthurs.
