eak and listen to part one of Simon Ronalds’ evolution of jazz from his show Time Out on Friday 19 September?
Simon played tunes and songs from the swing, bebop, and cool jazz eras, spanning from the 1930s to the late 1950s. The show included tracks from greats such as Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, and Chet Baker.
Simon also played music from some Australian, Japanese, and US artists who will be performing at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival next month, including Sophisticated Lady from the Michelle Nicolle Quartet.
Alli Harding will be behind the mic this Friday from 12pm to 2pm, and Simon will be back in the studio on Friday 3 October with part two of the history of jazz, where he will feature hard bop and post bop.
