Johnny Young tribute special – 6 PM Friday 14 August 2026
After the 6 PM news today (Friday 14 August 2026), 88.3 Southern FM pays tribute to Australian television and music industry icon Johnny Young, who has died at the age of 79. The special will feature some of Johnny’s Top 40 hits from the 1960s as well as songs he wrote for Russell Morris and Ronnie Burns. As the former host of television’s Young Talent Time, John Young is also remembered for spawning the careers of stars including Tina Arena, Dannii Minogue, Jamie Redfern and Karen Knowles.
