RADIO GA GA GEORGE YOUNG TRIBUTE PODCAST

Australian music died a little today with the passing of the great George Young. Way back in February 2015 on Radio Ga Ga we did a neat tribute show after hitting up the archives of the great songwriting, production and performing duo of Harry Vanda and George Young. What an amazing team and what a wild ride they’ve had. Music aficianados will quickly recognise them as a part of the fabulous Easybeats and Flash and The Pan as well as writing and producing a string of hits for Stevie Wright, John Paul Young and a number of other fine acts and artists including ACDC, William Shakespeare, Cheetah, Rose Tattoo and Grace Jones. A 40 year odyssey of music all wrapped up neatly in a 2 hour package on this special 2 hour podcast.

RADIO GA GA’S KAZOO PODCAST

Who’s up for a bit of kazoo madness??? Radio Ga Ga stepped into unfamiliar territory with a special program featuring all songs which utilised that musical rarity, the kazoo, be it for an intro, a solo, a chorus or a choir scenario and it was an absolutely fantastic and diverse mix of artists and tunes. You can re-live the program here on this 2 hour podcast featuring acts such as The Bonzo Dog Doodah Band, The Velvet Underground, Biffy Clyro, Blind Melon, Joanie Sommers, Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, Susan Christie, Dion & The Belmonts, Pink Floyd, Ringo Starr, Jurassic 5, McFly, Bowling For Soup, Dr.Wests Medicine Show & Junk Band and more who were game enough to give the kazoo a run on one of their commercial release tracks. Two hours of tunes and chat paying homage to the wonderful world of the kazoo.

RGG’S WORST COVER VERSIONS PODCAST

Whilst it is subject to ones personal taste, Radio Ga Ga has rounded up listener feedback to determine the worst cover versions in music history and they are all here in this podcast from the cringe-worthy Hilary Duff version of The Who’s “My Generation” complete with altered lyrics and synthesizer replacing John Entwhistle’s iconic bass lines to the creepy Rolf Harris version of The Divinyls “I Touch Myself” where it sounds like he is touching himself and on to Meatloaf’s vocal butchering of Tom Wait’s tender “Martha” the stinkers are all here in this podcast.
