Two weeks of Classic Covers on Radio Ga Ga

In popular music a cover version or cover song, or simply cover, is a new performance or recording of a contemporary or previously recorded, commercially released song or popular song. Aah yes, the next two installments on Radio Ga Ga are going to feature the much maligned, sometimes rightly sometimes wrongly cover version. But its not all bad (or good), think of tunes such as “All along the watchtower”, “Blinded by the light”, “Hazy shade of winter”, “With a little help from my friends” and “Tainted love”, or perhaps artists such as Nazareth, Quiet Riot, Santana, Led Zeppelin and The Honeydrippers. Alternatively,  if you wish to think of stink bomb cover versions such as Michael Bolton’s renditions of either “When a man loves a woman” or “Sittin’ on the dock of the bay”, Madonna’s reckless hack at “American Pie”or Cyndi Lauper’s tragic revamp of Marvin Gaye’s timeless “What’s Goin’ On”, please head on over to the right hand side of your FM dial. You will get a sniff/sampler/taste/cup of coffee of the original followed by the full version of the version that followed. Which is better…..you decide. Radio Ga Ga 10am – noon Saturday.
