On the 12th of June Degrees Of Separation got cohesive enough to smack out a great live hour of tunes with Anton and Lisa on the Live Sunday Sessions. The rich tapestry that is Degrees Of Separation were rockin the suburbs and took no prisoners as they showcased their awesome tunes and just in case you missed out on the day – here it is in all of it’s undiluted glory, just for y’all.
We will be changing it up on the LIVE SUNDAY SESSIONS this Sunday (live to air from 4pm) with a cheeky visit from Rick Hart and (his band of merry folk) The Sweet Addictions. Rick’s latest release “Levon Helm” has been getting plenty of airplay on 88.3 and other good stations and now we will get to hear it and a bunch of other fine tunes live in the infamous orange studio this Sunday. Soul driven alternative country partially captures what this melodic melee of musicians are able to conjure up when locked in a small radio studio with only oxygen and instruments so hit us up this Sunday and see what all the rave reviews are about and in the meantime head here to take care of your due research diligence.
No, we will not be sinking a few stubbies on Sunday afternoon (although we might do that too). This Miller is a 25 year-old singer/songwriter/storyteller who writes emotionally honest folk-pop music with poetic simplicity. Hailing from Melbourne’s eastern Suburbs.’In a While’ is her debut release, with the title track, reminiscent of classic nineties indie-pop tunes. With a number of awards and residencies under her belt, including the Port Fairy Folk Festival songwriters award, Belgrave Buskers Festival award, and curator of the Voltaire Folk Sessions, Miller combines her love of performing and community arts through music and, she is pulling out all stops and bringing in her band to the Southern FM studios this Sunday afternoon at 4pm to fill the studio with love, angst, sorrow, joy and pain for a full hour in what will be a classic LSS.
Like a joyful explosion of new wave indie noise rock, The Mean Times are real blokes who play real music for real people with a sound that is an amalgamation of infectious high-energy, melodious rock and roll. It’s a pastiche of indie cool, sharp riffs, scuzzy laden and confident rock, and catchy pop choruses, all delivered with a side serve of tongue in cheek lyrics and a hell of a lot of swagger (and fries), and, they are smashing through the front door of the Southern FM studios this Sunday to crank it up and deliver a power packed hour of live tunes this Sunday from 4-5pm.
So, prepare thyself for all of the best bits of post-grunge power-pop, Brit-pop and the other best elements of the otherwise mediocre 90’sand and mean times will abound.
Yowzers, last Sunday we had the absolute pleasure of the presence of ex-Beechworth junior Liv Cartledge on the LIVE SUNDAY SESSIONS. With a mature voice in a youthful package Liv displayed what a wonderful voice she has, a fabulous instinct for writing songs and a rare ability on the guitar as she and Maddie chewed the fat and played some tunes for a wonderful hour live in the studio. Hear the whole box and dice right here on this podcast of the show.
