Chariots of Fire and the Eric Liddell story – podcast

Eric LiddellListen again to the story of the champion Scottish runner Eric Liddell. He aimed for the 1924 Paris olympics, but his heats were scheduled for a Sunday. As a devout Christian observing the Christian sabbath, Liddell pulled out of that event, his best event. Instead he ran in the 400 metres and, amazingly, won it. (Program Songs of Hope, 2012 07 29)

Also, in our spotlight segment, listen to an audio extract from Chariots of Fire, where Liddell is in church on a Sunday reading Isaiah 40 while his rivals are arguing and racing in their 100m heats.
